Upon listening to B-Room, Dr. Dog's seventh album released October 1st, I found many of the elements that have made the band an accessible indie pop outfit throughout the years present in this latest release. With smooth melodies and catchy guitar hooks, Dr. Dog picks up right where it left off with Be the Void. This sounds great for consistent listeners of the Philly-based group, but those expecting any kind of developmental breakthrough are bound to be a little disappointed. Although the LP displays various highlights such as the poppy upbeat "Broken Heart", to the folky "Phenomenon." The biggest highlight of the album is the third single "Love", which provides the quintessential Dr. Dog sound of folky pop with a bit of psychedelia, but the overall feeling of a good old fashioned indie rock band. The only real downfall of the album is the fact that essentially it is a carbon copy of the band's previous efforts. To fans of the group, there will be no complaints with the new release. To those waiting for this band's big breakthrough, they might just have to wait a bit longer before Dr. Dog hits the mainstream airwaves. Tracks to check out: "Broken Heart", "Distant Light", and "Love."
